BREAKING NEWS:LEGENDARY BALLER ‘DR. J’ ERVING OPENS NEW BASKETBALL…
Philadelphia, PA – February 22, 2024
NBA Hall of Famer Julius “Dr. J” Erving has announced the launch of his state-of-the-art basketball academy, “Flight School,” in his hometown of Philadelphia.
The facility, a $10 million project, will provide top-notch training and mentorship to young players aged 8-18. Dr. J, a 11-time NBA All-Star, will serve as the academy’s president and head instructor.
“I’m thrilled to give back to the community that nurtured me,” Erving said during the ribbon-cutting ceremony. “Flight School will help develop the next generation of basketball talent, emphasizing skills, discipline, and character.”
The 50,000-square-foot facility features:
– 5 regulation courts
– Advanced sports science and analytics lab
– Strength and conditioning center
– Film room and classroom
– Outdoor rooftop court with city views
Dr. J has assembled an impressive coaching staff, including former NBA players and collegiate coaches.
“Julius has always been a pioneer, and this academy is another example of his innovative spirit,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. “We’re proud to support this initiative.”
Flight School will offer scholarships, clinics, and camps throughout the year. Applications are now open for the inaugural class.
